Malcolm McLean was a coal miner who died on 3 May 1887, aged 30, in the Esplanade No. 1 mine explosion on 3 May 1887. He was a member of Ashlar Lodge No. 3.

Malcolm McLean is buried in Bowen Road Cemetery next to Samuel Hudson, another member of Ashlar Lodge No. 3 who died in the Esplanade No. 1 explosion.
